yeah, i think the best thing i could be doing at the moment is work on refactoring the code, organizing it and making it easier to understand for other developers (and myself, too!). sourceforge did get their subversion hosting working this month, so i’ll be able to host the code there, and i’ll probably migrate the forum and feature database over there. i’d much rather have neomemRails working to host it all, but i just don’t know how long that would take…
there are a lot of features to add to neomem, and there’s no way i can do it all myself, so making it easier on other developers would be pretty important…
and i’m slowly getting to old emails and forum posts…

Very impressive program.
Have you ever considered using Firebird SQL as back-end database? (info @ http://www.firebirdsql.org) I think this database would very well suit your needs, and, unlike MySQL, it is really free! Is also has an embedded version for ‘local’ programs.
Keep up the good work!

I have been testing the latest version of Neomem (1.2a) and i have to confess that I rather like what you’ve built into it. It is straightforward while still being very powerfull, unlike most other outliners I have been testing. But I have to tell you that I will keep using the free Treepad, because of the following aspects:
- I need a better text import (TP let’s me import a comma separated file, considering the first value as the node (or “Data” entry, in Neomem speak) and all other as the article (or “Text, Contents”);
- That issue could perhaps be solved with a export/import format definition, which would map values to fields;
- I value the capacity to edit in RTF, but that should be optional, as it increases file size and complexity if compared to plain text and is not needed all the time;
- Better yet, only the node (”Data”) entry should be mandatory, thus allowing for classes to be defined containing only Text or Properties objects;
- Another welcome option would be to have a class default to either Text or Properties input;
- Auto link activation and the capacity to link between values and between Neomem files (including properties) would be nice enhancements.
Appart from that I really like your implements such as the search and index tabs, the content view and the fact that the program is so light weight and doesn’t require intallation so it can be made portable by running it off a USB pen disk.
Thans for your great work and generosity,

Ahh, I love Refactoring.It’s the fastest way to make yourself think you really made some progress… and in the process you’re making things cleaner and easier.
I have to deal with others code all day, so I’m constantly refactoring to find out what the heck they’re doing!
Oh, I love the application. Seems rather nice. Wish I could help, but I’m a Progress, .Net & Actionscrip 2.0 developer with a side of Java knowledge.

Thank you for the “file” type! It was exactly what I needed.
Now if only “links” had a wee bit of automation..

Are you still active with Neomem?
